Group 01

Belt joints

Endless joints made on the conveyor, hot or cold, plus quick mechanical joints.

01

Cold vulcanized belt joint

Step splice made on site with two-part cold vulcanizing cement and hardener. No heating press is needed, so it suits conveyors where a hot press cannot be fitted or power is limited.

Measured
Per mm of belt width
Used for
Fabric belts in general plant conveyors
02

Hot vulcanized belt joint

Joint cured under heat and pressure in a vulcanizing press, following the belt maker’s step pattern. The strongest joint for heavy-duty and high-tension belts.

Measured
Per mm of belt width
Used for
Main conveyors and high-tension belts
03

Fastener joint

Mechanical joint with belt fasteners when the belt must be back in service quickly or site conditions do not allow vulcanizing.

Measured
Per mm of belt width
Used for
Emergency restarts and short-life belts
04

Fastener fix-up

Broken, loose or missing fasteners on an existing mechanical joint replaced and refixed.

Measured
Per number
Used for
Keeping a fastener joint running safely

Group 02

Belt handling

Putting new belts on, taking old ones off and keeping belt edges clean.

05

Belt laying

New belt unrolled, pulled over the pulleys and idlers and laid on the conveyor, ready for jointing.

Measured
Per metre
Used for
New belts and belt replacement
06

Belt recoiling

Old belt taken off the conveyor and rolled back up for disposal or reuse; spare belt recoiled for storage.

Measured
Per metre
Used for
Belt change-outs
07

Belt edge cutting

Frayed or torn belt edges trimmed straight so the belt tracks properly and the damage does not spread.

Measured
Per metre
Used for
Belts with edge wear

Group 03

Repair & lagging

Repairs to the belt surface and rubber lagging for pulleys and drums.

08

Spot repair

Cuts, gouges and worn cover patches cleaned, buffed and filled by the cold process before the damage spreads.

Measured
Per square inch
Used for
Belt cover damage
09

Pulley & drum rubber lagging

12 mm plain or diamond-groove rubber sheet bonded to head, tail, snub and bend pulleys. Improves grip, stops belt slip and protects the pulley shell.

Measured
Per square inch
Used for
Drive and non-drive pulleys
10

Stacker head pulley lagging

Lagging of stacker and reclaimer head pulleys at berths and yards. Also taken as manpower-only work when the client supplies material.

Measured
Lump sum
Used for
Port and yard machines

Group 04

Breakdown & site support

When the conveyor stops outside working hours, and getting our team to you.

11

Breakdown & overtime work

Call-outs after 5 pm, at night, on Sundays and holidays to get a stopped conveyor running again.

Measured
Per hour
Used for
Unplanned stoppages
12

Transport of team & tools

Our vulcanizers, machines, tools and materials brought to your plant and taken back.

Measured
Per occasion
Used for
Every site job

The craft

How a vulcanized joint is made.

A joint is only as strong as its preparation. Every splice we make goes through the same sequence, whether it is hot or cold.

SPLICE LENGTH · STEPPED PLY BY PLYBELT END ABELT END B
  1. IsolateConveyor stopped, isolated and locked out by your team.
  2. Clamp & alignBelt ends clamped, squared and centred on the line.
  3. Mark & stepSplice length marked; plies cut in steps, one by one.
  4. Buff & cleanSurfaces buffed to fresh rubber and cleaned.
  5. CementTwo-part vulcanizing cement and hardener applied in coats.
  6. Join & rollSteps matched, joined and rolled out to remove air.
  7. CureCured under the press (hot) or left to vulcanize at ambient temperature (cold).
  8. Trial & hand overTrial run with your engineer; job recorded for the invoice.

How we measure

Every bill can be checked against the work.

Rates are quoted per unit, so the bill follows what was actually done on your conveyor. GST at 18% is charged extra.

Per mm of belt width

Joints. A joint on a 1,200 mm wide belt is billed as 1,200 mm.

Per metre

Belt laying, recoiling and edge cutting, on the length handled.

Per square inch

Spot repair and pulley lagging, on the area repaired or lagged.

Per number · per hour

Fastener fix-up per fastener; breakdown and overtime work per hour.
